MoCA Bypass Amplifiers

PCT MoCA Bypass Amplifiers with Integrated MoCA Filter MoCA (Multimedia over Coax Alliance) is a standard for networking within a home using coaxial cable.

PCT's MoCA bypass amplifier (PCTVCFxxx series) is built with an internal two-way splitter directly on the input port of the amplifier housing. One output of this splitter goes directly to the bypass port, and the second output of the two-way splitter provides the input to the actual amplifier. This ensures that emergency telephone calls can be made even when power is lost.

The major use of MoCA technology:

  • Multi-room DVR applications, which allows the user to view a program saved on a DVR on any TV set in the home that has a MoCA enabled set top box (STB).
  • Allows the viewer to start watching a program in one room, pause it and pick up the program on a different TV set in another room.

PCT MoCA amplifiers are designed to increase the signal strength of the cable television or broadcast over the air (OTA) TV signals ithin the home, and enhance the performance of any MoCA devices used on the in-home network. PCT MoCA amplifiers include a built-in MoCA filter. The purpose of the MoCA filter is to ensure all MoCA signals stay within the home network, which prevents interference to and from neighboring homes that may also have MoCA networks. It also provides security by blocking signals from leaving the home. Another benefit of the MoCA filter is that it reflects all the energy back into the MoCA network, which can enhance the performance of the MoCA devices on the network. Most bypass amplifiers do not allow MoCA signals to communicate from the bypass port to the output ports on the drop amplifier. The PCT MoCA bypass amplifier has the unique capability of routing the cable signals around the amplifier to the bypass port, which allows a MoCA-enabled cable modem or home gateway device to communicate with all output ports. This type of MoCA amplifier should only be used in situations where the cable modem or home gateway device is MoCA-enabled. If it is not MoCA-enabled, the MoCA signals may cause interference with its correct operation.
