Our patented torque retaining feature keeps the connector tight, preventing signal loss.
Although F connectors are the most commonly used connectors in TV signal distribution networks, RCA and BNC connectors are also used to allow the coaxial cable to be interfaced to different pieces of equipment. Compression connectors are the choice of professionals because of the many problems with older crimp connectors.
PCT compression connectors provide an excellent hold on the coaxial cable once they are installed, making it much harder for the cable and connector to be pulled apart. PCT compression connectors also provide much better protection against moisture migration between the cable and the connector body.
PCT’s unique patented compression ring design, O-ring in the back of the connector, and O-ring in the face of the connector make it almost completely waterproof when installed properly. (read more..)
PCT manufactures professional grade compression connectors of the highest quality that meet the strict tolerance requirements of all industry standards and specifications, including those developed by the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), who creates international standards for many TV signal distribution products.
Loose F connectors are the most frequent cause of signal degradation in a TV signal distribution network. To combat this, PCT has developed a patented torque retaining connector which helps eliminate this problem. The torque retaining connector uses a lock washer inside the connector, which keeps the connector from coming loose once it is installed. This provides the premium reliability that is required to keep F connectors tight once they are installed on a port.
This is explained in detail in the
PCT Torque Retaining Connector video.
Another significant cause of signal degradation with F connectors is moisture migration which enters the connector through the threads, between the connector nut and connector body, or by going between the coaxial cable and the back of the connector. PCT connectors provide superior sealing protection by using dual compression rings to seal up the back of the connector, and by using two O-rings – one in the face of the connector and one behind the nut. The O-ring behind the nut keeps any moisture from entering at that point, and the O-ring in the face of the connector provides a hermetic seal that blocks moisture from migrating down the threads once the connector is properly installed on the port. PCT compression connectors include a specially designed post, which allows the O-ring located in the face of the connector to seat inside a small chamber when the connector is tightened down. This ensures a true metal-to-metal contact between the post and the face of the port, which is critical to the performance of the connector. PCT offers professional grade F connectors offering the highest performance and reliability when it matters most.
Using the same patented compression technology, PCT also offers superior quality BNC connectors and RCA connectors. PCT’s F, BNC and RCA connectors are used worldwide by cable and satellite companies, contractors, installers, and consumers.
Installing the connector onto the coaxial cable in the correct way is very important to the overall performance of the connector/cable interface. This includes properly preparing the coaxial cable, aligning and placing the connector onto the cable correctly, and compressing the connector with a compression tool that is properly adjusted and has the correct compression length for the type of connector being used. This is all explained in detail in the PCT Connector Installation Video.
PCT provides several additional connector related products which are useful during installations. If it becomes necessary to splice two lengths of coaxial cable together, PCT provides a splice connector (also called a barrel connector, or an F81) that is designed for this purpose. To ensure that the TV signals will be minimally affected by the splice, only high quality splice connectors with excellent electrical matching characteristics should be used.
For safety purposes, the National Electrical Code requires coaxial cable to be connected to the building ground at the point of entry into the house. PCT provides a high quality grounding/bonding block for this purpose. The ground wire attachment point can accept ground wire sizes from #6 to #14, the body of the bonding block is plated for long life in the elements and high quality machined ports are used to ensure low insertion loss and excellent matching.
To ensure that the TV signals on the ports being used are not affected by unused ports, unused ports on digital TV signal splitters and in-house distribution amplifiers should be terminated. PCT provides RF terminators for this purpose.
